Input from Koh Samui, Thailand Entry title: "the beach, sea and sand ..." Input:. "So here we are at sea ... and sorry, but as we move into the mood of a house in the fall for the next three weeks we are on, sandy beaches and the beaches, the focus has always been the right to schedule a couple of months to make this tripmalarky and then head for the beaches of Southern Thailand to have a bit of a rest after jungle and rivers... and here we are. All nicely sunburnt as if we didn't know any better. We've even bought beach towels, ...thats how serious we are. The trip from Cambodia to Koh Samui was fun. It started with the 6:30am pick-up from our hotel in Battambang. Our little taxi driver didn't speak to us at all for the entire way but did bless us with all of his favourite Cambodian pop music for the entire 3 hour journey. It is Thailand's third largest island, with an area of 228.7 km2 and a population of over 50000 (2008). It is rich with natural resources, white sandy beaches, coral reefs and coconut trees. Most of the manual labor needed to keep up with the islands growth has been provided by people native to the countrys poorer north-eastern region.
