According to their brochure it is "Thailand's greatest and most popular open zoo and show park". They also claim to have "world class shows" and an "oasis for animals" which is probably going a bit too far. It is certainly a great day out for the family and that is where I took Nong Grace yesterday as her school has now broken up for the summer holidays. Safari World is split into two sections. Namely Safari Park and Marine Park. You don't actually have to visit both as there are separate tickets for each. However, a combined ticket costs 700 baht for foreign adults with another 200 baht for the boat ride which we didn't do. For an average sized family, that works out to be an expensive day out. We decided to first visit Safari Park which was probably the highlight. This is an open park area with hundreds of wild animals roaming around. If you don't have your own car like us then you can join coach tours. However, having your own transport means that you can take your time and stop anywhere to take pictures. You can also wind down your windows to get better pictures. Nong Grace loved this area. It was a great opportunity to get up ...

Entry from: Koh Lanta, Thailand Entry Title: "Finding Friends at The Lost Turtle" Entry: "When we arrived at the Kaw Kwang Beach Resort we were greeted by a fellow who took our bags and a waiter bearing a tray with ice cold glasses of juice to drink while we checked in. The resort sits out on a point called Kaw Kwang Beach (Deer's Neck) and there is ocean on three sides with a small coral reef in front of the resort. The bungalow is spectacular. Clean, cozy with big shady trees over our covered deck. Apparently the bungalows are new as five years ago the tsunami wiped out much of the resort. We spoke to a man from England who has been coming to this resort for twenty years and he said the coral reef is also recovering nicely. I spoke yesterday with a waitress at the Nature Beach Resort about the tsunami. She described how incredibly strange it all was and told of the ocean being "sucked" out to sea with the first wave leaving the fish flopping and gasping on the sand. But then came the tidal wave. She said everyone at the resort ran in time and the only injuries sustained at their hotel were broken bones, arms and legs. It was obvious this experience was still very new and fresh in her mind. (Also, I must say that we felt somewhat guilty changing resorts since once the changes were made our last night ...

I live in the Bay Area (Northern California) and I picked up a pair of the Beats By Dre Tours. The guy was willing to let it go for , so I picked it up in Berkeley. I checked everything and it seemed like they were in order, the box, the aluminum finishes, and etc. As I boarded the train back, I plugged them in and the quality was SH*T!!!!! WHATEVER HAPPENS DON'T BUY FROM CRAIGSLIST OR EBAY! If you check the SF BAY AREA craigslist for them, he'll say that his friend gave them to him as a present, he told me the same story! For me, the way I tested them, was to turn the BASS UP on my Iphone, and if the sound is lacking, as if the bass is nothing but a mur mur, then they are FAKE! The Beats By Dre are known to give a rich bass sound as well as mids and lows.

Digital Democracy Co-Directors Mark and Emily travel to Northern Thailand to Mae La refugee camp to launch Dd's digital penpal program Project Einstein with Burmese youth living in the camp. Students from the Leadership Management Training College, never having held a camera before, are taught the fundamentals of digital photography and choose themes to document with the cameras: Internally Displaced People, A day in the life in the camp, youth life and School life. While giving this training, Mark and Emily stream live for DdTv viewers, we see a tour of the camp's facilities, and conversations with the students on topics of technology access in the camp, and how digital photography has the potential to change their lives. Watch this episode of DdTv and see what this refugee camp looks like through the eyes of the youth who are living there.

Karon is concentrated around three main areas: The Karon Plaza area on the south end features several budget guesthouses, restaurants and bars. The side Soi's are worth exploring, particularly the one that leads to a small art community, where some budding Thai painters have built a complex of huts, pubs and art galleries in which they live and work. The beach is a popular destination for tourists. Generally quieter than neighbouring Patong Beach, it is especially popular among families and couples, and less popular with singles than Patong. It is also especially popular with Scandinavian tourists, with many businesses catering especially to them. Karon Beach was heavily damaged by the tsunamis following the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, especially in its southern regions, but has since largely recovered and by 2008 showed little evidence of tsunami damage. Karon is the second largest of Phuket's tourist beaches at three km length, some 20 kilometres from town. Not many hotels have direct beach frontage - most are across the road ( which is not a busy one ). Therefore practically the entire beach is public. Large resort complexes line the opposite side of the road from the shoreline, but the long, broad beach itself has no development. The sand is very white, and squeaks audibly when walked on. BANGKOK: Thailand's worst floods in decades have prompted the country's premier to postpone official visits to Singapore and Malaysia, a spokeswoman said on Sunday, as Bangkok braces for rising waters. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra last week described the flooding, which has left more than 250 people dead and inundated huge swathes of the kingdom as a "serious crisis" and warned that the capital would not escape unscathed. She was scheduled to fly to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively as part of an introductory tour of the region after coming to power in August. "The trips are postponed due to the floods," government spokeswoman Titima Chaisaeng told AFP. More than two months of heavy rains have deluged provinces across northern and central Thailand and damaged the homes or livelihoods of millions of people, particularly farmers, according to the government. Huge efforts are now under way to stop the waters from reaching low-lying Bangkok, home to 12 million people, prompting pleas from some residents north of the city for sluice gates to be raised to release floodwater. I flew up to Chiang Rai, which is quite close to the Laos / Myanmar borders. The area is well know for its hill tribe villages. I met an English guy and Dutch couple, and decided to organise a couple of tours in the area. The first day was to see some of the hill tribe villages near Chiang Rai. We started out early on our boat trip up the river, so we thought we would miss the other tourists. Even though, the tour buses beat us there, and we were shocked by the number and impact that tourism had had. We did a small hike into the surrounding hills, but all of us came away quite unimpressed. The next day we hired scooters so we could drive around and see some other sights. The first was a village where a number of different tribes had been brought together. The most famous people are the long necked Karen, who are mostly based in Myanmar, but are fleeing into Thailand because of persecution. The women of this tribe wear rings around their necks, so over the years their necks become longer. Picture is below, but again not for me, felt like a human zoo. We also drove upto Tham Luang cave and ...
